Our client is a famous multinational company, top 3 in their industry worldwide (mechanical machinery related products). They have several plants in China and trading companies in different countries across AP region. Total annual revenue is approx US$300 million in Asia area.

As a result of ongoing growth they seek to recruit an experienced, finance management professional to join the Asia team as CFO based in Shenzhen/Hong Kong.


Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Advise the President, Asia on all financial issues and develop strategies and plans to attain organic sales and EBIT growth targets;
  • Supervise the preparation of all financial data required for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of Asia in conformance with the policies of Group Company in US;
  • Review the reporting for compliance with the Group Company in US and HS accounting policies and controls;
  • Provide guidance on international issues as required;
  • Support the Company Corporate financial policy program by actively participating on task forces addressing the implementation of new U.S. accounting policy pronouncements and the application of those pronouncements to the Asia business;
  • Interface directly with external auditors and Company Internal in developing and communicating audit scope including SOX;
  • Ensure the availability of resources, and facilitating the resolution of issues;
  • Perform periodic review and hard closing of the internal control environment for Asia, including reviews of account reconciliations, consolidation practices and documentation standards;
  • Supervise the preparation of OMM updates and reviews and prepare the annual business plan for Asia;
  • Summarize the monthly forecasts, and participate, as required, in periodic performance to plan meetings;
  • Monitor and track weekly sales and order data;
  • Assign priorities among the various functional activities of the business throughout the areas of responsibility in a manner which will best meet the schedule and cost requirements of all customer commitments and product deliveries;
  • Interface on a regular basis with department managers to ensure effective budget and cost data is available to support budget and financial objectives;
  • Lead project teams in financial or accounting areas on assignments.

Candidate Specifications:

Desired Experience / Business skills & abilities
  • Bachelor or Master in Finance, Accounting or Business related subjects;
  • CPA, ACCA, or MBA is highly preferred;
  • More than 15 years of working experience;
  • 8 - 10 years of experience in senior management positions in finance area with sophisticated famous multinationals;
  • Minimum 5 years of direct working experience in P.R.China;
  • JV experience is preferable;
  • Experienced in working for US listed companies would be appreciated (good understanding about SOX);
  • Experienced in dealing with Chinese authorities and with PRC business laws and regulations, as well as other courtiers in Asia (Singapore etc.);
  • Experienced in and understanding functional interfaces and providing consulting to managers on improving financial performances is critical;
  • Familiar with US and China GAAP and it’s application in a manufacturing organization;
  • Broad understanding of accounting principles, methods and practices, plus a strategic comprehension of financial planning in a complex product environment;
  • Possess a strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial planning and analysis techniques, and program cost reporting;
  • Must be able to operate in a highly complex environment where timeliness, judgment, and accuracy in financial planning, reporting and implementation are critical;
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision where guidance is primarily given in the form of general project/program data, general issues, and general directives;
  • Ability to produce high quality work under pressure & manage multiple projects deadlines;
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin is a MUST.
